A Buzz Boeing 737-8 MAX on behalf of Ryanair, registration SP-RZU performing flight FR-5570 from Budapest (Hungary) to Sofia (Bulgaria), was climbing out of Budapest's runway 31L when the crew stopped the climb at 4000 feet reporting an engine (LEAP) failure advising, they had heard a loud bang and assume severe engine damage as result of a bird strike. The aircraft entered a hold while the crew was working the checklists and returned to Budapest for a safe landing on runway 31R and taxied to the apron.

The flight was cancelled.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Budapest about 18 hours after landing.

On May 23rd 2025 Poland's PKBWL reported the crew heard a loud bang on takeoff accompanied by loss of thrust, loss of direction and a distinct vibration on the left hand side. The crew continued takeoff, after a while the vibrations ceased. The engine shut down before the engine shut down procedure was completed. Post flight inspection revealed the engine intake was clean, metal fragments were identified in the exhaust section and the main fuel filter mesh. Hungary's KBSZ is investigating the occurrence rated an incident.
