A PIA Pakistan International Airlines Avions de Transport Regional ATR-42-500, registration AP-BHI performing flight PK-503 from Karachi to Gwadar (Pakistan), was climbing out of Karachi when the crew stopped the climb at FL140 and decided to return to Karachi due to a malfunction in one of the engines. The aircraft landed safely back on Karachi's runway 07R about 45 minutes after departure.

The airline reported a technical fault in one of the engines.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 5.5 hours and reached Gwadar with a delay of about 5:40 hours.
