Passengers reported the aircraft had departed with a delay of several hours due to a failed fan in the cargo area, which was eventually repaired. Enroute about one to two hours into the flight the captain announced hydraulic system #1 had failed and they would divert to Honolulu, closest airport at that point, for a landing without nose wheel steering available.
The aircraft remained on the ground in Honolulu for 43 hours, then positioned to Denver but has not yet returned to service about 5 hours after landing in Denver.
