A Jazz Canadair CRJ-100, registration C-FSJU performing flight QK-8898 from Halifax,NS to Goose Bay,NL (Canada), was in the initial climb out of Halifax when after gear selecting the gear up the nose gear decided to remain extended resulting in a gear disagree indication in the cockpit. The crew levelled off at 5000 feet and requested delay vectors to run the relevant checklists. After about 10 minutes of troubleshooting the nose gear suddenly retracted on its own. The crew selected the gear down, received a down and locked indication for all gear struts and returned to Halifax for a safe landing about 20 minutes after departure.

The Canadian TSB reported that maintenance checked the nose gear rigging, the weight on wheels switches and the oleo pressures with no abnormal findings. Subsequent approximately 30 gear swings went also without any anomaly, maintenance therefore returned the aircraft to service.

Another incident two days later, see Incident: Jazz CRJ1 at St. Louis on Jan 14th 2013, unsafe gear, led to the replacement of the entire nose gear assembly.
