A Wideroe de Havilland Dash 8-100, registration LN-WIP performing flight WF-869 from Tromso to Andenes (Norway) with 14 passengers and 3 crew, was in the initial climb out of Tromso's runway 01 when the crew stopped the climb at about 1000 feet due to an engine (PW121) failure. The crew shut the engine down and returned to Tromso for a safe landing on runway 01 about 8 minutes after departure.

A replacement Dash 8-100 registration LN-WIO reached Andenes with a delay of 2 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Tromso about 31 hours after landing back.
