Jazz CRJ9 enroute on Jul 7th 2022, turbulence injures both flight crew

A Jazz Canadair CRJ-900, registration C-GJZT performing flight QK-8192 from Vancouver,BC to Regina,SK (Canada) with 63 passengers and 4 crew, was enroute at FL370 about 240nm west of Regina when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence causing difficulties to control the aircraft, the aircraft deviated at least 300 feet from the assigned altitude. The crew requested a descent, descending through FL290 the aircraft again encountered moderate turbulence. The aircraft continued to Regina. Upon landing on Regina's runway 13 the crew received an outboard spoilers caution message, an ADS-B FAIL and an EFIS COMP MON announciation within a few minutes of each other, the aircraft taxied to the apron without further incident.

The Canadian TSB reported: "The captain and First Officer sustained minor injuries. One passenger holding an infant was thrown into a bulkhead near a window area; however, received no injuries." and further annotated: "The aircraft was removed from service while the operator's maintenance carried out a severe turbulence inspection and downloaded the QAR for analysis. The severe turbulence event was classed as a type one event. The operator also noted that the pre-flight planning did not indicate any significant turbulence risk. The flight plan showed shear factor of 1 in that area. There were no PIREPs reported, nor were there any other aircraft in the vicinity."
