A Gol Transportes Aereos Boeing 737-800, registration PR-GXU performing flight G3-1604 from Sao Paulo Congonhas,SP to Fortaleza,CE (Brazil) with 120 passengers and 6 crew, was climbing out of Congonhas Airport when the crew received indication of an air conditioning failure and stopped the climb at FL260. After working the related checklists the crew decided to divert to Confins,MG (Brazil) for a safe landing about 55 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration PR-GXP reached Fortaleza with a delay of 4 hours.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 12 hours after landing in Confins.
