An American Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N169UW performing flight AA-2223 from Dallas Ft. Worth,TX to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) with 187 people on board, was on final approach to Chicago's runway 10C when the crew initiated a go around from about 1000 feet AGL reporting their gear doors were open when they should have been closed, the crew requested to tower to have a look whether the gear doors were indeed open, tower commented they wouldn't be able to see that. The crew climbed the aircraft to 5000 feet, worked the related checklists and landed safely on runway 10C about 40 minutes after the go around.

The aircraft returned to service about 35 hours after landing.
