An Interjet Airbus A320-200, registration XA-ALM performing flight 4O-2953 from San Antonio,TX (USA) to Mexico City (Mexico) with 142 people on board, was climbing out of San Antonio's runway 12R already in contact with a departure above 2000 feet when the crew reported they had high vibrations on the right hand engine and requested to return to San Antonio, the right hand engine had been reduced to idle thrust. The aircraft stopped the climb at about 4600 feet and positioned for an approach to runway 12R.

Observers on the ground believe the engine ingested a bird.

Passengers reported that the captain announced they were returning to San Antonio due to an engine problem. Some time after landing the captain said they had ingested a bird into that engine.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
