An Iceland Air Boeing 757-200, registration TF-FIP performing flight FI-681 from Keflavik (Iceland) to Seattle,WA (USA), was enroute at FL340 about 110nm north of Kulusuk (Greenland) and about 400nm west of Kefkavik when the crew decided to return to Keflavik due to the failure of both LNAV and VNAV functions. The aircraft descended to FL330 for the return, entered a hold at FL100 to burn off fuel and landed on Keflavik's runway 01 about 2:50 hours after the decision to turn around and return.

The left hand FMS was replaced and the nav database reloaded.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service to fly the next day's FI-681.
