The aircraft had earlier departed from Hamburg Finkenwerder (Germany) for its delivery flight and was scheduled to fly to Hanoi via an intermediate stop in Baku. It is still on the ground in Lahore on Feb 22nd 2019.
On Feb 18th 2019 The Aviation Herald learned the engine is going to be replaced in the next couple of days.
On Feb 22nd 2019 Pakistan's AIB reported the occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated by Pakistan's AIB. The aircraft entered Lahore FIR about 30nm southeast of Zhob (Pakistan) when the crew declared PAN PAN reporting a technical failure with the right hand engine. The crew subsequently requested a diversion to Lahore.
On Feb 27th 2019 the NTSB reported the right hand engine stalled in cruise flight followed by vibrations and an exhaust gas temperature overlimit warning. The engine was shut down, the aircraft diverted to Lahore. Post flight inspection revealed the engine had received damage to the low pressure turbine stage 3 blades.
