A Vietnam Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration VN-A605 performing flight VN-1207 from Hanoi to Can Tho (Vietnam), was climbing through FL170 out of Hanoi when the crew decided to return to Hanoi due to the right hand windshield being cracked. The aircraft landed safely on Hanoi's runway 11L about 50 minutes after departure.

A post flight inspection also revealed a large dent in the nose of the aircraft.

A replacement A321-200 registration VN-A611 reached Can Tho with a delay of about 3 hours.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service after about 18 hours on the ground.
