The crew shut the engine down and landed on Chennai's runway 07 about 25 minutes after the go around.

India's DGCA reported a loss of engine oil caused the engine failure and complained that the crew went around instead of landing directly as they should have done due to the loss of engine oil. An investigation has been opened.

The airline reported it was a technical glitch in one of the engines.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Chennai 33 hours after landing.
