An Austrian Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration OE-LAE performing flight OS-65 from Vienna (Austria) to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) with 210 passengers and 13 crew, was climbing out of Vienna's runway 29 when the right hand engine (PW4060) ingested several birds. The crew continued the climb. After levelling off at FL300 the crew decided to return to Vienna. The aircraft landed safely back on Vienna's runway 34 about one hour after departure.

The airline reported a number of birds were ingested by the right hand engine while in the climb out of Vienna. In accordance with safety precautions and standard operating procedures the crew decided to return to the Vienna, no fuel dump was performed. Emergency services were called out for an overweight landing. The passengers were rebooked onto other flights while the occurrence aircraft is undergoing checks.
