An Austrian Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration OE-LAE performing flight OS-94 from Washington Dulles,DC (USA) to Vienna (Austria) with 163 people on board, was climbing out of Dulles' runway 01R when the crew declared Mayday reporting the failure of the left hand engine (PW4060) and stopped the climb at 14000 feet. The aircraft entered a hold for the crew to work the checklists and returned to Dulles for a safe landing on runway 01C about 30 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Washington about 40 hours after landing back.
