Serve AN26 at Goma on Sep 10th 2017, engine failure results in runway excursion

A Serve Air Cargo Antonov AN-26 registration 9S-AFL (MSN 14003, former 9Q-CFL) performing a cargo flight from Goma to Bunia (DR Congo) with 4 crew, was climbing out of Goma at about 11:30L (09:30Z) when one of the engines (AI-24VT) failed prompting the crew to return to Goma's runway 35. The aircraft touched down at about mid point of the runway and did not stop before the end of the runway coming to a stop on the remains of the lava field of 2002 north of the runway. All crew survived, the aircraft sustained substantial damage (fractured right hand wing, collapse of nose and right main gear).

According to ATDB the airline operates one Antonov AN-26 9Q-CFL (MSN 14003) which was re-registered in 2017 to become 9S-AFL.
