An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N914AN performing flight AA-343 from New York La Guardia,NY (USA) to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA), was on short final to Chicago's runway 27R when a bird impacted the nose gear. The aircraft continued for a safe landing.

The FAA reported the aircraft sustained minor damage to the nose gear.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 16 hours after landing.
