A Swiss International Airlines Airbus A319-100, registration HB-IPY performing flight LX-1233 from Stockholm (Sweden) to Geneva (Switzerland), was climbing out of Stockholm's runway 01L when the crew stopped the climb at 4000 feet reporting a left hand engine (CFM56) fire indication. The crew shut the engine down, activated the fire suppression, advised on final approach that the fire indication was no longer active and landed safely back on Stockholm's runway 01L about 14 minutes after departure.

Airport police reported the aircraft suffered an engine problem.

A passenger reported the captain announced they had received an engine fire and other indications.
