On Saturday, Feb 13th 2016, Saudi Arabia's Military announced, that a number of Scud missiles had been launched by Houthi rebels in Yemen towards Khamis Mushait, located east of Abha near Abha's Kind Khalid Airbase. The Scud missiles were shot down by armed forces of Saudi Arabia using precision missiles launched from King Khalid Airbase.
The occurrence aircraft departed for the return flight FZ-812 on schedule.
Saudi Arabian Authorities and the Abha Airport Authority are investigating the occurrence. Abha Regional Airport continued normal operations, no further safety threats have been observed so far.
