An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N865NN performing flight AA-986 from Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA) to San Jose (Costa Rica) with 186 people on board, was on final approach to San Jose's runway 07 when the crew went around due to an unsafe gear indication. The aircraft entered a hold at 10,000 feet while the crew worked the related checklists, performed a manual gear extension and landed the aircraft safely on runway 07 about 25 minutes later.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in San Jose about 19 hours after landing.
