A PIA Pakistan International Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration AP-BGK performing flight PK-353 from Peshawar to Karachi (Pakistan) with 116 people on board, was enroute at FL380 about 100nm west of Multan (Pakistan) when the crew decided to divert to Multan due to smoke in a galley. The aircraft landed safely on Multan's runway 36 about 25 minutes later.

Passengers reported a galley oven overheated causing a fire.

The airline reported a fire erupted in a galley.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Multan for about 7 hours, then continued the journey - without the oven - and reached Karachi with a delay of 8:10 hours.
