A Jet Airways Boeing 737-800, registration VT-JGV performing flight 9W-597 from Muscat (Oman) to Delhi (India) with 174 people on board, was on final approach to Delhi's runway 11 when ATC queried the high speed of the aircraft and instructed the crew to reduce speed.

A Vistara Airbus A320-200, registration VT-TTC performing flight UK-811 from Delhi to Bangalore (India) with 148 people on board, had been instructed to line up runway 11, was cleared for takeoff and was in the departure roll beyond V1, when the Jet Airways Crew decided to go around due to the unstable approach (due to speed). Both aircraft turned right, the Boeing 737-800 caught up with the A320 due to the higher speed and was above the A320, the vertical separation reduced to about 400 feet. Both crews received TCAS resolution advisories, which both crew complied with.

The Boeing 737 positioned for another approach to runway 11 and landed safely about 13 minutes later. The A320 continued to their destination for a safe landing, too.

India's DGCA have opened an investigation into the occurrence.

Both airlines confirmed the occurrence.

Jet Airways reported their crew went around to re-establish required speed, attitude and configation in the interest of safety.

Vistara said their crew was always in compliance with ATC clearances and instructions and followed all procedures correctly.
