A SAS Scandinavian Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration LN-TUM performing flight SK-7402 from Las Palmas,CI (Spain) to Haugesund (Norway) with 136 people on board, was enroute at FL360 over the North Sea about 110nm south of Stavanger (Norway) when the crew decided to divert to Stavanger due to an issue with one of the engines (CFM56). The aircraft landed safely on Stavanger's runway 18 about 25 minutes later.

The airline reported the crew heard a sound from the engine and went to examine the engine, however, there was no indication of a malfunction. Nonetheless, the crew decided to divert to Stavanger for a perfectly normal landing, there are maintenance engineers available in Stavanger other than in Haugesund. So far no engine malfunction has been found.

A passenger reported there was a loud bang, the crew indicated an engine was shut down and subsequently restarted in flight, they were diverting to Stavanger for better emergency services available.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground 17 hours after landing in Stavanger.
