A SAS Scandinavian Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration LN-TUM performing flight SK-7390 from Chania (Greece) to Stavanger (Norway) with 140 passengers, was climbing out of Chania when a passenger noticed fuel coming off the wing, informed cabin crew, who in turn informed the flight crew. The flight crew decided to return to Chania for a safe landing.

The airline reported that the fuel surge vent operated with the fuel wing tank filled to near maximum capacity. The aircraft was checked, everything found working as it should and the aircraft was released to service.

The incident aircraft departed again and reached Stavanger with a delay of 2.5 hours.
