A Cathay Pacific Airbus A330-300, registration B-LAN performing flight CX-9993 from Hong Kong to Zhuhai (China) with just flight crew, was climbing out of Hong Kong's runway 25L when the crew stopped the climb at 7000 feet due to a problem with the left hand engine (Trent 772). The aircraft returned to Hong Kong for a safe landing on runway 25R about one hour after departure.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground 40 hours after landing back.
