A Cathay Pacific Boeing 777-300, registration B-KQO performing flight CX-883 (dep Apr 5th) from Los Angeles,CA (USA) to Hong Kong (China) with 373 people on board, was enroute over the Pacific Ocean when the crew observed decreasing engine (GE90) oil levels and decided to divert to Osaka Kansai (Japan). The aircraft landed safely on Kansai's runway 24L.

Japan's Ministry of Transport reported an instrument indicated a decrease in engine oil levels, the crew declared emergency. The runway was inspected after the resulting emergency landing.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Osaka about 24 hours after landing.
