A Sriwijaya Boeing 737-800, registration PK-CMT performing flight SJ-1159 from Guangzhou (China) to Denpasar Bali (Indonesia) with 180 passengers and 12 crew, was climbing out of Guangzhou when the crew stopped the climb at 3300 meters (FL108) due to a passenger door open indication. The aircraft entered a hold to burn off fuel and returned to Guangzhou for a safe landing about 2 hours after departure.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 4 hours while repairs were being made and the aircraft was refueled, then departed again and reached Denpasar Bali with a delay of 6 hours.

Local media reported however that 21 passengers decided to not to continue their journey.
