DR Congo's BPEA reported: "The BPEA was informed by a third party that a CAA aircraft, of type Airbus A321-212PCF, reg. 9S-AJM, was involved in a safety event during its landing at Kindu."
On Jun 25th 2026 The Aviation Herald received information, that the aircraft made a hard landing. The right main gear suffered damage including the rupture of several hydraulic lines. The runway sustained damage as well.
On Jun 29th 2026 the BPEA advised, that the aircraft suffered minor damage only, hence the occurrence was rated a minor incident and is NOT being investigated.
However, on Jul 20th 2026 th BPEA announced: "The President of the BPEA is at the BEA/France laboratory, where he is supervising the decryption operations of the flight recorders of the Airbus A321-212PCF aircraft, registration number 9S-AJM, operated by CAA. This event occurred in Kindu on July 24, 2026." (editorial note: This should read June 24,2026, at the time of posting it was Jul 20th 2026).
On JUl 23rd 2026 the BPEA reported that the readout and decryption of the black boxes was successfully finished, the data did not reveal airworthiness anomalies and no technical defects affecting the airworthiness of the aircraft. The investigation now focusses on human factors.
The aircraft is still on the ground in Kindu on Jul 20th 2026.
