An American Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N995AN performing flight AA-1343 from Cancun (Mexico) to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA) with 185 people on board, was climbing out of Cancun when the crew stopped the climb at about 13,000 feet due to problems with the spoilers. The aircraft entered a hold at 8000 feet to burn off fuel and returned to Cancun for a safe landing on runway 12R about 100 minutes after departure.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 130 minutes, then departed again and reached Dallas with a delay of 4 hours.

On May 18th 2017 Mexico's AIB reported correcting earlier information that the aircraft suffered a problem with the spoilers. The occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated by Mexico's AIB.
