A Maldivian de Havilland Dash 8-300, registration 8Q-IAR performing flight Q2-160 from Kadhdhoo to Kooddoo Island (Maldives), landed on Kooddoo Island's runway 36 at about 10:40L (05:40Z) but struck its tail onto the runway surface. The aircraft rolled out without further incident and taxied to the apron. There were no injuries, the aircraft sustained substantial damage to fuselage skin and pressure bulkhead.

The aircraft was unable to continue service, the return flight to Male (Maldives) needed to be cancelled.

No METARs are available, the local weather station (Viligili 1nm north of the aerodrome) reported at 08:00L: Visibility 9km, winds from eastnortheast at 6 knots, QNH 1012 hPa, temperature 28 degrees C, dew point 25 degrees C, scattered cloud, at 11:00L the weather station reported 9km visibility, winds from northnortheast at 5 knots, QNH 1013 hPa, temperature 29 degrees C, dew point 26 degrees, overcast cloud.
