A Flybe de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration G-JECL performing flight BE-211 from Exeter,EN to Edinburgh,SC (UK) with 62 passengers, was enroute at FL240 about 2 minutes prior to reaching the top of descent when the aircraft began to transmit the general emergency code on its transponder. The aircraft continued to Edinburgh for a safe landing on runway 24 about 25 minutes after first tranmitting the emergency code and taxied to the apron.

Emergency services were on stand by, roads around the airport were blocked for access by emergency services only.

The airline reported the aircraft suffered a technical problem, the aircraft taxied to the stand, passengers disembarked normally.

Local media reported citing airport sources that there was an issue with the nose wheel which required landing as soon as possible.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground 8 hours after landing.
