An Aserca Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-83, registration YV485T performing flight R7-779 (scheduled dep. Aug 6th) from Caracas to Maturin (Venezuela), had been delayed two times before the aircraft finally departed from Caracas on Aug 7th with a delay of 6:45 hours. The aircraft needed to go around on the first approach to Maturin and touched down about 20 minutes later, during roll out all 4 main gear tyres blew, the aircraft was disabled on the runway at about 04:15L (08:45Z).

The runway was closed several hours, three flights were delayed as a result.

The airline said the tyres deflated as result of a wet runway.
