An Aserca Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-82, registration YV153T performing flight R7-971 from Porlamar to Puerto Ordaz (Venezuela) with 30 people on board, had safely landed on Puerto Ordaz's runway 25 and was about to turn around to backtrack the runway to the apron, when the nose wheels exited paved surface.

The runway needed to be closed until the aircraft was towed off the runway.
