An Alitalia Cityliner Embraer ERJ-175, registration EI-RDC performing flight AZ-1763 from Milan Linate to Palermo (Italy), departed Linate's runway 36 when the aircraft flew through a flock of birds shortly after departure. The crew heard an impact, however, all instruments continued to show normal values, so that the crew decided to continue the flight to Palermo, where the aircraft landed safely about 80 minutes after departure.

A post flight inspection revealed a bird had struck an engine (CF34) case. The aircraft was unable to depart for the return flight.

The return flight AZ-1762 was cancelled.

The occurrence aircraft was able depart Palermo about 30.5 hours after landing, positioned to Linate Airport and resumed service.
