A Flydubai Boeing 737-800, registration A6-FEJ performing flight FZ-666 from Asmara (Eritrea) to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), was climbing out of Asmara when the aircraft flew through a flock of birds and received a number of hits to the radome, an angle of attack sensor and an engine (CFM56) inlet. The aircraft returned to Asmara for a safe landing.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 24 hours, then departed again as flight FZ-666A and reached Dubai with a total delay of 27.5 hours.
