An American Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N152AA performing flight AA-2265 from Miami,FL to Philadelphia,PA (USA), was on final approach to Philadelphia's runway 27R when the crew selected the landing gear down, however no gear strut cooperated. The crew initiated a go around and entered a hold to work the related checklists. Two more attempts to select the landing gear down ended with no movement of the landing gear. The crew finally performed an alternate gear extension, the gear lowered and locked into the down position, and the aircraft landed safely on Philadelphia's runway 27L about 25 minutes after the go around.

Maintenance replaced the landing gear handle assembly and a Landing Gear Control and Interface Unit (LGCIU), performed successful gear swings and returned the aircraft to service about 22 hours after landing.
