A Cargojet Boeing 757-200, registration C-FLAJ performing freight flight W8-617 from Moncton,NB to Montreal,QC (Canada) with 2 crew, was enroute at FL400 about 220nm east of Montreal when the crew received a "CABIN ALT" indication and as switching to manual control did not arrest the cabin altitude initiated an emergency descent to 10,000 feet. The aircraft continued to Montreal for a safe landing on runway 29 about 45 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported that both cabin pressure controllers were found without anomaly. Maintenance examined and cleaned the seal of door #1, pressurized the aircraft with no problem and returned the aircraft to service.
