LGW DH8D at Karlsruhe on May 20th 2016, vehicle collides with aircraft and kills ground worker

A LGW Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter de Havilland Dash 8-400 on behalf of Air Berlin, registration D-ABQB performing flight AB-6645 from Berlin Tegel to Karlsruhe (Germany), had completed an uneventful flight and was parked at the gate.

Karlsruhe Police reported the aircraft should have been filled up with fresh water. The according vehicle, driven by a 24 year old, was reversing towards the aircraft, a 22 year old ground worker was directing his collegue. However, the vehicle collided with the aircraft, the 22 year old caught between vehicle and aircraft received fatal injuries. The aircraft received substantial damage as result of the accident, too. Responsible police and states attorney have opened an investigation into the accident.
