A Polar Air Cargo Boeing 747-800, registration N858GT performing freight flight PO-916 from Cincinnati,KY to Los Angeles,CA (USA), was on approach to Los Angeles' runway 25L, tower advised of a loss of 10 knots of airspeed on final. The crew went around from low height reporting they received a wind shear warning during the flare, tower advised that it appeared they had scraped their right hand engine (GEnx) on the runway surface, subsequently adding it had been the #4 engine scraping the runway surface. The crew decided to divert to Ontario,CA (USA) for a safe landing about 25 minutes later. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the #4 engine pod, #4 engine cowling and #4 engine.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Ontario 3 days later.

On Apr 18th 2016 the FAA reported engine #4 actually struck a runway sign.
