A Commutair de Havilland Dash 8-200 on behalf of United, registration N368PH performing flight C5-2672/UA-2672 from Washington Dulles,DC to Albany,NY (USA), was in the climb out of Washington's runway 01L when the crew requested to stop the climb at 5000 feet and return to Dulles Airport. The crew subsequently advised they had an aileron mistrim indication. The aircraft landed safely on Dulles Airport's runway 01R about 25 minutes after departure.

A replacement Dash 8-200 registration N365PH departed about two hours after landing and reached Albany with a delay of 2.5 hours.

On Apr 9th 2016 The Aviation Herald learned that the aircraft was climbing through 2000 feet when the ailerons went to full left hand trim, the crew needed to counter which was possible as the roll spoilers had not extended, hence the situation was not an immediate emergency situation. The checklist for aileron trim runaway was completed but did not resolve the problem prompting the crew to avoid weather and return to Washington. Due to the pending overweight landing the crew declared emergency and landed safely.
