A Yakutia Boeing 737-800, registration VQ-BMP performing flight R3-4495 from Yakutsk to Khabarovsk (Russia) with 29 passengers, was enroute at FL360 about 150nm south of Yakutsk when the crew received a cargo smoke indication and decided to return to Yakutsk for a safe landing on runway 23L about 35 minutes later.

The indication was identified false.
