A Malaysia Airlines Airbus A380-800, registration 9M-MNB performing flight MH-2 from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was climbing out of Kuala Lumpur when the crew stopped the climb at FL240, entered a hold and subsequently returned to Kuala Lumpur for a safe landing on runway 32L about 2 hours after departure.

A passenger reported about 1.5 hours into the flight the crew made an announcement that mentioned a smell and engine (Trent 970) oil but remained otherwise unclear.
