A Sunwing Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration C-FLSW performing flight WG-567 from Calgary,AB (Canada) to Puerto Vallarta (Mexico) with 145 people on board, was enroute at FL350 about 110nm south of Calgary when the forward left cockpit window began arcing. The crew turned windshield heat off, the window however continued arcing. The crew declared emergency and returned to Calgary, the windshield was still arcing and the windshield overheat indication activated. The aircraft landed safely back.

The Canadian TSB reported that maintenance replaced the #2 left hand sliding window, the left hand window heat control unit and the #2 left hand power cable. Following an overweight landing inspection the aircraft returned to service.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration C-FWGH reached Puerto Vallarta with a delay of 5 hours.
