An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N951AA performing flight AA-1585 from Fort Lauderdale,FL to Los Angeles,CA (USA) with 143 passengers and 6 crew, was climbing out of Fort Lauderdale's runway 09L when the crew stopped the climb at 4000 feet and requested to divert to Miami due to a pressurization issue. The aircraft subsequently entered a holding and climbed to 6000 feet before landing safely on Miami's runway 27 about one hour after departure.

The airline reported the crew received an indication of a pressurization problem and decided to divert to Miami to have the issue checked. No problems were found and the aircraft departed again.

The aircraft is currently estimated to reach Los Angeles with a delay of 3.5 hours.
