A United Boeing 757-200, registration N13110 performing flight UA-1807 from Los Angeles,CA to Newark,NJ (USA), was enroute at FL360 just over Las Vegas,NV (USA) when the crew reported they were troubleshooting an engine (RB211) issue and were consulting with the company. The crew subsequently decided to return to Los Angeles stating no emergency handling was needed. The aircraft landed safely on Los Angeles' runway 25R about 40 minutes later, the crew advised no further assistance was needed. Emergency services reported that only one thrust reverser had deployed.

The airline disputed an engine issue and said the crew received an indication of a possible mechanical issue and returned to Los Angeles as a precaution.

A replacement Boeing 757-200 registration N29129 reached Newark with a delay of 2:40 hours.
