Brussels RJ1H at Vienna on Jul 8th 2012, unsafe gear after departure

A Brussels Airlines Avro RJ-100, registration OO-DWC performing flight SN-2902 from Vienna (Austria) to Brussels (Belgium), was climbing out of Vienna's runway 29 when after retracting the gear the crew did not receive a gear up and locked indication for the right main gear. The crew levelled off at 5000 feet, lowered the gear again and returned to Vienna for a safe landing on runway 34 about 20 minutes after departure.

The flight needed to be cancelled after attempts to repair the aircraft proved unsuccessful for an hour. The passengers were rebooked onto other flights.

The incident aircraft was able to position to Brussels at normal cruise altitude (FL320) as flight SN-9902 departing Vienna about 9.5 hours after landing.
