A Jetblue Embraer ERJ-190, registration N306JB performing flight B6-115 from Syracuse,NY to New York JFK,NY (USA) with 105 people on board, was climbing out of Syracuse when the crew stopped the climb at 10,000 feet reporting smoke on board. The crew worked the checklists and subsequently advised that there had been a burning odour throughout the aircraft but had dissipated now after working the checklists. The crew reported they had a smoke indication for the avionics bay. The aircraft landed safely back at Syracuse about 15 minutes after departure. Emergency services checked the aircraft and confirmed a burning odour, but did not detect any fire, heat or smoke.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 8 hours and reached New York with a total delay of 9 hours.
