A PIA Pakistan International Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration AP-BLA performing flight PK-295 from Rahim Yar Khan (Pakistan) to Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), was climbing out of Rahim Yar Khan's runway 19 when the aircraft encountered a bird strike. In the absence of abnormal indications the crew continued the flight and levelled off at FL340 about 300nm westsouthwest of Rahim Yar Khan and about 150nm northwest of Karachi (Pakistan) when the crew decided to divert to Karachi due to the bird strike. Employing routine communication the crew landed the aircraft safely on Karachi's runway 25L about one hour after the decision to divert and about 1:45 hours after departure.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration AP-BLT reached Abu Dhabi with a delay of 3 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Karachi 38 hours after landing.
