An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N945AN performing flight AA-1277 from Chicago O'Hare,IL to Charlotte,NC (USA) with 165 people on board, was enroute at FL330 about 40nm southeast of Indianapolis,IN (USA) when the crew reported a fuel leak and decided to divert to Indianapolis. The aircraft landed safely in Indianapolis about 16 minutes later.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about two hours, then was able to continue the journey and reached Charlotte with a delay of 2:20 hours.
