A Canadian North Boeing 737-200, registration C-GDPA performing flight 5T-8706 from Ottawa,ON to Iqaluit,NU (Canada) with no passengers and 3 crew, landed on Iqaluit's runway 16 but did not detect that one half of the runway along the entire length of the runway had been closed (also see Incident: Nolinor B732 at Iqaluit on Jul 8th 2015, runway excursion on half width runway. The aircraft touched down on the former center-, now edge line of the runway destroying a number of temporary runway edge lights before the crew spotted the error and turned the aircraft onto the open half of the runway.

The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft received minor damage in the occurrence.

Runway re-surfacing works had commenced in June and are estimated to last until August.
